«Targeted care» — is a direction aimed at providing targeted care to children and young adults with brain and spinal cord tumors (pediatric tumors). As part of the referral, the Foundation accompanies the wards from the moment of suspicion of a tumor at all stages of diagnosis and treatment, not only helping with the payment of necessary expenses, but also providing support in timely routing.
Proper diagnosis is a necessary part of the fight against the disease. For example, MRI examinations for children and young adults with brain tumors should be performed regularly to monitor the effectiveness of treatment, and after completion, it is also important to monitor the dynamics of the tumor with a certain frequency. In addition, in order to clarify the diagnosis, make a prognosis of the course of the disease and correctly choose treatment tactics, molecular genetic studies are required. We support the families of our students in paying for these and other types of examinations.
Surgical treatment, chemotherapy, various types of radiation therapy – these and other treatments can be used to fight brain tumors. Depending on the type of neoplasm, its size and location, age and other physiological factors of a particular patient, doctors choose one or another tactic. Paying for treatment is one of the tasks of the «Targeted Care» direction.
Children and young adults with brain tumors may require various medications necessary both for basic treatment, such as chemotherapy, and for correcting abnormalities resulting from the underlying disease, such as the relief of epileptic seizures caused by a brain tumor. We also support our students in paying for medicines.
The families of our students regularly seek help in purchasing various medical supplies, equipment, products and equipment. For example, it can be a bypass system for removing cerebrospinal fluid and much more.
