«Rehabilitation and socialization» is a direction that solves the problems of physical, psychological and social rehabilitation of children and young adults with brain tumors and their family members, as well as increases the effectiveness of treatment, adding positive emotions to it.
During and after treatment, patients with brain and spinal cord tumors often experience various impairments, loss of existing skills, or difficulties in acquiring new ones – motor, speech, cognitive, and others. This prevents a return to normal life, and there is a risk of being isolated from society.
Rehabilitation and Socialization helps children receive high-quality rehabilitation assistance for physical and psychological recovery, as well as social adaptation, including in their region of residence.
Full–time or remote individual or group comprehensive rehabilitation, in which more than 150 specialists — neuropsychologists, psychologists, speech therapists, speech pathologists, physical therapy specialists, occupational therapists and others — work with the Foundation’s wards. The rehabilitation course allows you to restore skills lost during the illness or gain new ones.
Projects in which our students and their family members undergo rehabilitation in various camps and other venues.
During the illness of a loved one, families often need a variety of help, including psychological. That’s why we organize psychological consultations in clinics. Also, after completing the treatment, we help our patients and their family members to adapt to life after the illness. As a result of working with psychologists, children become more open to the outside world, overcome difficulties more successfully, establish relationships with peers, as well as within the family, find their place in the world and develop an emotional sphere.
During treatment or rehabilitation, patients may spend from several weeks to several months in the clinic. In order for them to have the opportunity to be distracted from hospital routine, we, together with our partners, design play spaces in the neuro-oncological departments of medical institutions.
