«Assistance to medical institutions» is a direction aimed at developing the infrastructure of specialized departments and research laboratories of state clinics where children and young adults with brain and spinal cord tumors are treated and rehabilitated.
As part of this project, the Foundation purchases equipment and supplies necessary for various types of treatment. For example, it can be supplies used during neurosurgical operations, such as a navigation system, a special microscope, a set of neurosurgical instruments, and much more. This gives doctors the opportunity to perform surgical procedures with maximum accuracy and minimal risk for children and young adults with brain tumors. In addition to the equipment used for many patients, we supply supplies for individual use.
The Foundation not only equips laboratories with the equipment necessary for conducting research, but also regularly supports their activities with supplies of consumables and reagents. Molecular genetic and cytogenetic studies, DNA methylation, sequencing – these and other methods help to clarify the diagnosis, make the most effective treatment plan and prognosis of the disease. Thanks to this project, the «Assistance to medical institutions» direction helps to increase the volume and quality of research, as well as improve the process of conducting it.
In order to make the rehabilitation process less reminiscent of hospital days for children and young adults, an important task of the department is to supply interactive and modern rehabilitation equipment that allows you to work on restoring skills lost during illness in a playful way. Such supplies include, for example, a speech therapy schooner, a Shufried system, and blazepods. At first glance, they look like game installations, but in fact they help to restore motor and cognitive functions — for example, to develop motor skills or train reactions — as well as observe the dynamics of rehabilitation effectiveness.
Comfortable functional beds, a negative pressure device for faster wound healing, spiral highways, thanks to which young children can crawl and move around during chemotherapy without the risk of confusing them and getting complications – with the help of these and other supplies, the Foundation helps to make their stay in the hospital more comfortable.
